Global Hip-Hop

Although the black community originally felt threatened by the expansion of their very precious art, I would say that it could have never existed if their ancestors were not colonized and transferred from Africa to America as slaves.Whatever you do, whenever you are, wherever you come from and whoever you are, the survival of identity will always engender controversies. The survival of identity alludes to the survival of the soul, and African-American aimed at preserving a connection to their first land (Africa) from which they were deterrioralized. Now, globalization of hip-hop might for the next generations never tell about the colonized African history, and I think it would be sad not to be able to forget that story, since it has affected the overall world history and we need to know why and how.

From another perspective, I feel relieved that art has the power to reconcile so-called “races” and ethnic diversities, as it allows frontiers – which the human kind has created anyways – to be destroyed.

So, “keep ya head up!”
