The last but not the least element of hip-hop culture is the graffiti. What could I say about graffiti but show some artists’ crafts? Let me say that writing on walls is one of the oldest craft practices and the Egyptian pyramids are the best example I could give. Hip-hop has just reinvented an older art form in order to appropriate it to its cultural association.Well, throughout my research I discovered that modern hip hop graffiti birthplace is Philadelphia, PA in the 1980s. No longer afterwards, it rapidly expanded to New York City. The first ways the mainstream public learned about graffiti is through diverse means of media such as the TV program Style Wars as well as a book entitled Subway. Since, the other countries of the globe created their own style based on the original hip hop graffiti. Nowadays, hip-hop graffiti are regularly painted in Europe, South America, Australia and Japan. 
In contrast with traditional ghetto hip-hop, graffiti art style does not refer to gangs, violence and sex. However, it is seen as a criminal offense to paint a property’s wall with no permission. This is where the controversy truly lies, since it is great beautiful art but could be offensive if practiced without the agreement of law. Nevertheless, it has become world widely recognized and appreciated.
